OperaUpClose's La bohème extends booking period at Charing Cross

On Wednesday (14 November 2012), OperaUpClose's production of La bohème celebrated its 370th performance with a gala opening at the Charing Cross Theatre. It has also been announced that the show’s run has been extended by two weeks from its initial ten-week period, and will now close on 19 January 2013.

The production, which originally opened at the Cock Tavern Theatre in December 2009 going on to win an Olivier Award for Best New Opera, is the single most performed production of La Boheme in the UK.

The production stars  Edward Hughes, Philip Lee and Gareth Morris sharing the role of ‘Rodolfo’, Susan Jiwey, Rhona McKail and Elinor Jane Moran the role of ‘Mimi’, and Tom Bullard, Nicolas Dwyer and Tom Stoddart the role of ‘Marcello’, with Prudence Sanders and Una Reynolds sharing ‘Musetta’, Julian Charles and Dickon Gough ‘Colline’, and Marcin Kopec and Alistair Sutherland ‘Schaunard’.  

Also featured in the cast are Chris Holwell, Sarah Minns and Martin Nelson, with Charlie Bannocks, Marianne Hare, Anthony Pinnick, James Schouten and Rebecca Shanks in the Chorus.

The OperaUpClose production of La bohème is a new English version by Robin Norton-Hale, who also directs, with musical direction and piano accompaniment by Elspeth Wilkes, design by Luce Read and lighting by Richard Williamson.
