Moore's Straight & Okoh's Birds fly to Bush for Younis' second season

Date: 20 September 2012

Madani Younis has announced details of his second season as artistic director of the Bush Theatre.

The season opens with new writing festival Radar 2012 (7-22 November). Precise details are still to be announced, but it promises to showcase "the scope and breadth of new plays through talks, scratch work, sneak peeks and full productions".

It's followed, from 27 November to 22 December 2012, by the transfer of Sheffield Theatres' production of DC Moore's Straight. The play, which is directed by Richard Wilson, centres on the reunion of two university friends, who make a bet that will take their relationship to a whole new level.

Next up is Money the Game Show by Clare Duffy, which looks at the effect of the financial crisis on two hedge fund managers-turned-performance artists. Starring Lucy Ellison and Brian Ferguson, it runs from 6 February to 2 March 2013 (previews from 31 January).

Rounding off the season, to Shepherd's Bush venue stages the 2011 Bruntwood Prize-winning play Three Birds by Janice Okoh, fresh from performances at the Royal Exchange.

Running from 22 March to 20 April 2013 (previews from 19 March) and directed by Royal Exchange artistic director Sarah Frankcom, it's billed as a "startling and darkly comic drama about childhood, family and fantasy" and centres on two siblings who are left home alone.

Madani Younis said today: "Central to the ethos of this season, is producing and hosting work with the best companies and theatres from the across the UK – this signals an intent moving forward for the company to give a platform to exceptional new work from outside London."

Next year the Bush will also play host to the Brook Green Festival of literature, which returns for its fifth year from 29 October to 8 November 2013, and, for the first time, the South Asian Literature Festival (1-4 November).
