Trafalgar 2 Hosts Marlowe's Wife & Pilot's Fever
Date: 19 November 2009

The forthcoming season in Trafalgar Studios 2 has been announced, with highlights including transfers of Edinburgh Fringe hits The World's Wife and Barbershopera II and the London premiere of Pilot Theatre's production of Naomi Wallace's The Fever Chart.

Other upcoming productions in the 100-seat studio, which opened in 2005 (See News, 5 Oct 2005), include the return of family favourite Potted Potter and the revival of musical comedy Stephen and the Sexy Partridge, directed by Cal McCrystal (whose credits include The Mighty Boosh).

Running in the late evening slot (10pm or 9pm) from 25 November 2009 to 2 January 2010, Stephen and the Sexy Partridge is a musical comedy by Lily Bevan and Finnian O’Neill (who also star) which premiered at Islington's Old Red Lion venue last year. It centres on the exploits of Stephen as he sets out on a Christmas shopping spree unlike any other, featuring "bagpipe-playing potatoes, revolutionary hens, and dancing swans".

Potted Potter, which runs in the early slot (7pm, matinees 3pm) from 8 December 2009 to 2 January 2010, sees CBBC's Dan and Jeff returning for a third Christmas season at the venue with their potted guide to all seven Harry Potter books in just seventy minutes.

Next up is the London transfer of two of this year's Edinburgh Fringe successes – award-winning musical comedy Barbershopera II (5 January-6 February 2010), which runs in the late slot, and Linda Marlowe's one-woman show The World's Wife (11 January-6 February 2010), adapted from the poems of Carol Ann Duffy.

Rounding off the season, from 9 March to 3 April 2010, is the London premiere of Naomi Wallace's The Fever Chart, which premiered at the York Theatre Royal earlier this month. Directed by Katie Posner and Marcus Romer for Pilot Theatre, it tells three stories set in different locations around the Middle East, “exploring political tensions by grounding them in the human issues of love, life and death”.

Currently in Trafalgar Studios 2, Public Property, which stars Nigel Harman, finishes on 5 December (See News, 13 Oct 2009). In Trafalgar Studios 1, the Northern Broadsides production of Othello led by Lenny Henry, finishes its run on 12 December, with the Liverpool Everyman production of Pinter's The Caretaker, starring Jonathan Pryce, opening in the new year (See News, 6 Nov 2009).
