Liverpool Playhouse & Everyman's Matchbox set for London, 2 May

Indhu Rubasingham has announced her second season as artistic director of the Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn.

The season will open from 2 May to 1 June 2013 with the London premiere of Frank McGuinness' The Match Box directed by Lia Williams, who is currently appearing in the West End revival of Harold Pinter's Old Times.

Starring Leanne Best, the production - which looks at the circumstances that have led a woman to leave England for a small island on the coast of County Kerry - was first seen at Liverpool Playhouse last summer.

The Tricycle then welcomes back Shared Experience in what will be the first collaboration between the two companies: a co-production of Alexi Kaye Campbell's new drama Bracken Moor (6 June to 20 July), charting two estranged families rediscovering their lost friendship in 1930s Yorkshire.

This is followed by Tiata Fahodzi's "larger-than-life" African comedy The Epic Adventure Of Nhamo The Manyika Warrior And His Sexy Wife Chipo by actor/writer Denton Chikura. Running from 1 to 17 August, it's directed by the British African company's newly-appointed artistic director Lucian Msamati.

Rubasingham said today: "My second season is a chance to celebrate new writing, different voices and new collaborations with other exciting theatre companies. Creating relationships with other companies with a shared vision is vital for not only the Tricycle, but for the whole theatre ecology."

Currently at the venue, Philip Himberg's 'play with music' Paper Dolls, about a group of Filipino immigrants in Tel Aviv who moonlight as drag artists, opens on 6 March (previews from 28 February) and runs til 13 April.
