The Situation Room heads for Lowry, 30 OctDate: 12 October 2012 The Situation Room, the latest play ‘developed with The Lowry’, promises to takes theatre off stage and puts the audience in the driving seat, when it opens at the end of this month.
The play is described as a theatrical adventure, in which the audience are sent to a secret location to take part. Transported to the highest seat of power in either The White House or The Kremlin during a moment of global tension, the audience are asked to make tough decisions against the clock. The choices made will shift the balance of power between East and West and write a new chapter in the history of the world.
From young theatre company Oscar Mike, the play examines how we make decisions under uncertainty every day, take risks and make mistakes. But our actions impact the lives of a small number of people. At the highest echelons of society this same human process can cost hundreds of thousands of lives.
The cast features Simon Carroll-Jones and Robert Macpherson, with sound design by Oliver Soames.
The Situation Room is at the Lowry from 30 October - 2 November.
