Reds & Blues Musical Spends Summer at Royal Court

Date: 13 April 2012

Writer Dave Kirby (Council Depot Blues, Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels, Lost Soul) returns to Liverpool's Royal Court with a full musical version of his comedy film Reds And Blues - The Ballad Of Dixie And Kenny.

The stage musical version of the movie will see Dave team up once again with Royal Court favourites, Director Bob Eaton and Musical Director Howard Gray.

The tale begins when Dixie (Paul Duckworth), a true dyed in the wool blue arrives to stay at his fanatical Evertonian sister’s house which just happens to be next door to a family of rampant reds headed by Kenny (Andrew Schofield) who is planning a European Cup celebration garden party - but Dixie has other ideas! A state of war is instantly declared and the flak begins to fly as red and blue battle plans are put into action.

The show is packed with cutting banter and fresh gags from both sides of Stanley Park with original songs from the film plus many new songs performed by Dixie, Kenny, Gwladys (Lindzi Germain) and Annie (Lynn Francis).

Reds And Blues - The Ballad Of Dixie And Kenny is at Liverpool's Royal Court from 29 June - 28 July.
