LipService bring back Moriarty spoof to Grange

Date: 13 March 2012

Local double act LipService return to the Northwest with the revival of their timely look at Sherlock Holmes - Move Over Moriarty, following huge success with Desperate to be Doris.

Follow our intrepid duo Holmes and Watson as they are summoned to investigate The Garibaldi Biscuit Affair, a case as impenetrable as a London pea-souper. Meet Lydia Shotoff and her dog Fidget, marvel at the exploits of Death Defying Dan and his Whelk infested tank of terror and weep at the melancholia of the Musical Motherless Twins. Can Sherlock Holmes, the brilliant violin playing, opium smoking, French knitting detective and his little friend Watson solve the fiendish crime?

With the success of Benedict Cumberbatch's version of the detective and Robert Downey Jnr packing cinemas with his interpretation, expect spoofs a plenty when the duo bring their madcap version to the Grange next month (temporary home for the Oldham Coliseum).

LipService pair Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding have been writing and performing together since 1985, touring nationally and internationally. They have written 14 original comedies for the stage, and have twice won the Critics’ Award for Comedy at the Edinburgh Festival. Their Radio 4 comedy series LipService was nominated for a Writer’s Guild Award, and their Classics at Bedtime for Radio 2 was selected for Pick of the Year.

Move Over Moriarty is at the Grange Arts Centre from 3 - 7 April.
