Real Couple Play Two at Dukes, 6 Oct

Date: 29 August 2011

Husband and wife actors – Kieran Buckeridge and Ella Vale – are to play a couple on stage in The Dukes 40th anniversary production of Two.

The Jim Cartwright modern classic drama based in a Northern bar in 1989 will see The Dukes transform one of its theatre spaces – The Round – into a fully operational pub in October. And performing both sides of the bar will be Kieran Buckeridge, fresh from his success as Merlin in The Dukes summer outdoor production, joined by his
wife, Ella Vale.

As well as playing landlord and landlady of Lancaster’s newest – and most  temporary pub – Kieran and Ella will also take on all the characters who visit their bar. Two is the second Jim Cartwright play this year to be staged at The Dukes following the success of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in the spring.

Pathos and humour combine in this snapshot of working class life as characters share their ups and downs with the audience who can then enjoy a drink on the stage set.

Two opens The Dukes Pub Season which celebrates 40 years since the Lancaster theatre and cinema was launched in the autumn of 1971. Dukes director, Joe Sumsion, said: “Two is a great way of kicking off the anniversary season. It will be really good fun to turn the theatre into a pub for our 40th birthday.”

Two runs at The Dukes, Lancaster from 6 - 29 October.
