Little Bulb Bring Greenfield To The Drum

Little Bulb Bring Greenfield To The Drum

Date: 18 August 2011

Little Bulb Theatre return to the idea of growing up with Operation Greenfield at the Drum Theatre, Plymouth 13 - 17 September - a study of faith and friendship and their most ambitious exploration so far on the interplay between music and theatre.

Somewhere in middle England four unlikely teenagers are preparing for judgement day with ladders, Elvis and Forest Fruits squash - Stokely’s annual talent competition is nigh. With a stage full of instruments and an eclectic mix of recorded music, Little Bulb Theatre capture the confusing, awkward and beautifully naïve time of adolescence. The time when the once simple beliefs you held dear need re-adjusting to face the complexities of adulthood.

After much Forest Fruit’s squash consumption, Operation Greenfield fast became a huge success at 2010’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, gaining nominations for a Total Theatre, Holden Street and Stage Acting Excellence award as well as going on to win a prestigious Herald Angel. Farnham Maltings are producing the national tour of Operation Greenfield for Autumn 2011.

Since forming in 2008 Little Bulb Theatre have gone on to create a diverse and stylistically vibrant body of work taking in large scale theatre pieces to small intimate experiments in dimly lit caverns and everything else in between. They are passionate about fusing more traditional theatrical forms such as character acting and dramatic structure with elements of devised visual and musical performance thereby creating fresh, live experiences that, with humour and sadness, will touch, startle and entertain. Little Bulb combine innovative puppetry with high energy ensemble storytelling alongside beautiful imagery and homemade music.
