Fisher to return in Sound of Music, Empire

Date: 9 September 2010

Liverpool's Empire theatre will welcome Connie Fisher – who plays Maria Von Trapp in musical The Sound of Music - to the venue next month.

Fisher won the BBC One talent contest How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria in 2006, and subsequently performed the role of Maria in the West End run of The Sound of Music to rave reviews.

She was also awarded the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers Choice Award for London Newcomer of the Year.

Starring alongside Fisher are Michael Praed (best known for his TV role as Robin of Sherwood, his stage work and his role as Narrator on BBC’s Timewatch) as Captain Von Trapp and soprano Marilyn Hill Smith as Mother Abbess.

This production, direct from the London Palladium, tells the story of the Von Trapp family's flight across the mountains and works its magic once again, for young and old alike.

With its unforgettable score that includes some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev'ry Mountain, The Lonely Goatherd, and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music, it's the perfect family treat!

The Sound of Music appears at the Liverpool Empire from 12 until 30 October 2010.

*Please note Connie Fisher is expected to perform at all performances excluding Monday evenings, Wednesday 13 October matinee, and Wednesday 20 and 27 October evenings.
