Buddy's Back in Town Next Spring

Date: 20 December 2010

Buddy - which returned to the West End a couple of years ago after a five-year absence – is coming back to the region next March. The show last appeared at the Lowry in 2009, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Buddy Holly’s death in a plane crash on 3 February 1959, aged 22.

The show follows Buddy Holly's story, from his meteoric rise to fame, to his final legendary performance at The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. Together they present two terrific hours of his greatest hits, including the timeless classics "That'll Be The Day", "Peggy Sue", "Oh Boy", "Rave On", "Everyday" and many more.

Buddy also features the Big Bopper's "Chantilly Lace" and Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba."

The hit musical is co-written by Alan Janes (who also produces) and Rob Bettinson (who also directs). In London, Buddy has had three West End homes, The Duchess, The Victoria Palace and The Strand (now The Novello).

This touring production arrives at the Palace from 28 March - 2 April 2011.
