Doris Choir Needs You In Keswick

Well-known and well-loved theatre company LipService are on the lookout for keen singers from the local area to form a ‘community choir’ set to perform as part of their production Desperate to be Doris at Theatre by the Lake.  Billed as an outrageous homage to musical icon Doris Day, the show features a selection of the diva of the duster’s greatest hits as you’ve never heard them before. 

The production is set to grace Theatre by the Lake’s Main House stage in November, however organisers are keen to recruit budding stars nice and early, ready for the start of rehearsals in September. A meeting has been organised to start the ball rolling and anyone interested should come along to Theatre by the Lake on Monday 12 July at 7pm.  
 
If you enjoy singing, love Doris Day and want to get involved in this professional production, then why not join the Community Choir?  LipService are looking for between 40-60 men and women (over 16 years) to join the chorus.  The rehearsal period consists of 10 two hour weekly evening sessions led by experienced choir leader Stuart Stokell. 

A choreographer will also teach the choir the movements for the songs and three professional actors from LipService will work with the choir towards the end of the rehearsal period.  The week before the production opens, the community choir will be required every evening for sound checks, technical and dress rehearsals ready for opening night on Thursday 11 November.  There will be four performances in total; three evening performances at 7.30pm and a matinée performance at 2pm on Saturday 13 November.

Lots of hard work and commitment will be needed, but organisers insist it will be worth while.  Participants will have a huge amount of fun, get the chance to sing some fabulous Doris Day songs, enjoy expert singing tuition, make new friends, whilst not to mention the opportunity to act with professional actors in this fantastic show.
