White Nights at Octagon Studio

White Nights closes the Octagon's Summer season at their intimate studio space and will be playing alongside the well reviewed The Hired Man.

Fyodor is in love with Ana and would move heaven and earth just to make her smile. Ana loves another and longs for the day her lost love will return. But as the mysterious glow of the white nights fills the St Petersburg sky, Fyodor will risk it all in the battle to win her heart.

Steve Hubbard’s White Nights is adapted from a short story by Fyodor Dostoevsky – arguably the greatest Russian writer of all time. It comes complete with a wonderful original score performed live by the cast. The play is a World Premiere by Shared Property Theatre Company whose Artistic Director, Elizabeth Newman, will be directing David Copperfield and Sweeney Todd at the Octagon Theatre in the coming season. She said:

“White Nights is a world of dreams. Why do dreams have the power to evoke our deepest emotions, and expose our most secret desires and fears? I’m not completely sure, yet what I know for certain is how much they continue to enchant us. White Nights is an enchanting play and like our dreams, the production is inspired by our waking world. Some wacky places: Glee. Some childlike: In the Night Garden. Some Classical: Great Expectations. But like our dreams, White Nights is entirely original.”

The production is is presented in association with the Octagon Theatre Bolton. It is the last in the Octagon’s Theatre in the Studio season which has seen actors including the late Corin Redgrave appear in the venue’s intimate theatre space.
