Evita at Lowry, 6 SepDate: 21 July 2010 West End star, Abigail Jaye is to play Eva Peron n the hugely successful musical version of the iconic figure's life; Evita which comes to the Lowry in September. Previously played on the tour by Louise Dearman and Rachael Wooding, Jaye brings West End experience to the role, having performed as the Narrator in Joseph at the New London Theatre and also alongside Tommy Steele in Scrooge.
Featuring some of the most famous and inspiring stage music ever written, including the classic songs "Don’t Cry For Me Argentina", "On This Night Of A Thousand Stars", "Oh What A Circus", "You Must Love Me" and "Another Suitcase In Another Hall", Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical plays for the first time The Lowry.
Bringing to life the dynamic, larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, Evita tells the story from her young and ambitious beginnings to the enormous wealth and power she gained and her ultimate rise to sainthood.
With more than 20 major awards to its credit, including the Oscar-winning film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, and featuring one of the most coveted roles in musical theatre, this new production of the smash hit show played to packed audiences at the Opera House two years ago.
