Opera della Luna's Die Fledermaus
Opera della Luna's Die Fledermaus

Die Fledermaus headed for Lowry

Date: 9 February 2010

Opera della Luna returns to The Lowry next week with their production of Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss.

Strauss’s much-loved operetta is now given a glittering new look and unique contemporary twist by this ensemble company. For newcomers, Opera della Luna’s fresh and approachable style is the perfect introduction to the genre.

The story of Die Fledermaus is a tale of revenge, with Dr Falke seeking to settle the score with Eisenstein for a previous joke gone wrong. He gets his revenge in style at a risqué party at the home of the outrageous Russian aristocrat Orlofsky. Through the course of the party there is case after case of mistaken identity…

The cast for Die Fledermaus includes Opera della Luna regulars Philip Cox, Andy Morton, Lisa Anne Robinson and Helen Massey.

This year Opera della Luna are celebrating their 15th anniversary,  and this Summer 2010 they will perform for the first time at the Gettysburg Festival in the USA, showcasing the finest Gilbert & Sullivan productions from the UK.

Die Fledermaus is at the Lowry from 15 - 20 February.
