Our Day Out confirmed for summer 2010

Date: 29 December 2009

Arguably the best theatre production in Liverpool of 2009 is making a return to the city in the summer next year with tickets already on sale.

Willy Russell’s play Our Day Out was reworked into a musical and brought together a talented group of young actors, dancers and singers with seasoned professionals such as Andrew Schofield, Michael Starke and Gillian Hardie.

No further announcement has yet been made on who will be cast in the 2010 production, but whoever is brought in will have a lot to live up to.

Royal Court Liverpool has said a record 30,000 people came to see the show during its five-week run at the theatre during September and October.

Kevin Fearon, chief executive of Royal Court Liverpool, said: “Our Day Out - The Musical was the biggest show that we have produced here at the Royal Court and it was an easy decision to bring it back for 2010.

“Not only do we get the kudos of producing a West End scale musical in our own town but we get to work with the very best in Liverpool talent, from Willy Russell to the youngest cast member. We worked very hard to get the 2009 production just right but I am sure that this new production will be even better so audiences should book soon!”

Playwright Willy Russell added: “One of the very very best theatrical experiences of my life – I can’t wait to do it again.”

Our Day Out – The Musical will open at Royal Court Liverpool on Friday 27 August and run until Saturday 9 October 2010.
