Precarious production Anomie at the Unity

Date: 13 November 2009

Bristol-based Precarious present its new production Anomie at Liverpool’s Unity theatre next week, bringing breakneck physicality, imagery and cutting edge technology.

The award-winning theatre company is kown for its inclusion of digital media in its productions.

Liverpool’s theatre situated in Hope Place, off Hope Street, describes Anomie as “intense, provocative, delicate and comic, Anomie is a hypnotic and surreal journey that traces the fractured pathways and phantom connections between six anomie plagued characters, all inhabiting the same apartment building, yet unaware of each other’s trials, tribulations and deviant behaviour.”

A sea of mattresses and 50 inch plasma screens will feature on stage. Six projectors will provide imagery and colour, connecting the video and the live performers in digital format, while acoustic and drum and bass sounds will create a musical backdrop.

Precarious has said it has produced its most ambitious work to date, which is being performed by a newly formed international cast and co-produced by Lincoln Drill Hall and in association with New Theatre Royal Portsmouth and ICIA.

Precarious has received Arts Council funding for its next year of work, and is currently on a 30-venue tour with the production.

Meanwhile, Iceland’s Minister for the environment, Kolbrun Halldorsdottir, is directing Greela and the 13 Yule Lads which arrives at the Unity towards the end of next week.

The production is packed with puppets, stories, magic and song. It first opened at The Drill Hall in London in December 2002, and stars Felix Bergsson, who is a renowned Icelandic actor, writer and children’s presenter.

Greela and the 13 Yule Lads will appear at the Unity Theatre on Saturday 21 November for two performances at 11am and 2.30pm, tickets cost £5-£8.

Anomie appears at the Unity Theatre on Tuesday 17 November. Tickets cost £9/£7 concessions. To book tickets for these shows call 0151 709 4988.
