Northface return to RNCM with Our Country's Good
Date: 29 October 2009

Following their sell out tour of Be my Baby, Northface Theatre are back with the modern classic, Our Country’s Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker. Premièring at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester from Wed 4th November, this will be the first time that the cast have performed together since graduating from Manchester’s Arden Theatre School.

Based on real life events, the play charts the arrival of The First Fleet in Australia and their attempt to stage a play, a favourite old comedy called “The Recruiting Officer”. But with only two copies of the text, a cast made up of convicts and a leading lady about to be hanged, the production is in trouble from the start…..

Performed by Northface’s new Young Company, the cast is made up of local untrained 18-25 year olds actors making their professional debuts. Founded by established stage and television actor, Marie Critchley and director Jason Hudson, the company’s ethos is simple - to provide new raw talent the opportunity to test their skills in a professional environment.

Marie says, “ Youth theatre was where I started to learn my craft and I wanted to ensure that young actors here in the North West had the same opportunities I had… to explore and create in a professional setting.”

Our Country's Good runs from the Wed 4th - Sat 7th November at the Royal Northern College of Music, Oxford Rd, Manchester in the Studio Theatre. For further information, please visit the Northface website.
