Spooky stories set for grand Liverpool setting

Date: 28 September 2009

Author Tom Slemen’s best-selling Haunted Liverpool books will come to life for an evening of theatrical entertainment within a magnificent setting next month.

Jen Heyes, who has adapted the stories and will be directing the performances, said: “I have adapted some of Tom’s most haunting Liverpool stories and together with a strong cast have brought them to life in the highly theatrical setting of Liverpool’s iconic St Georges Concert Room.”

The evening of dramatic storytelling is planned for Wednesday 25 November 2009.

The first readings of Tales from Haunted Liverpool will be performed by local actors Eithne Browne (Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels, Dirty Dusting, Tartuffe and Brookside), Brian Dodd (Blood Wedding and Wall Talks) and Stephen Fletcher (Stags and Hens, Eric’s and Hamlet).

Slemen has written nine books of Haunted Liverpool, which contains tales of Liverpool’s past and present, and also has released a new book of Wirral haunted tales.

Co-producer Bill Elms added: “Tom Slemen’s books are incredibly popular in Liverpool and lovers of these books can now sit back and hear these spine chilling stories in a live interactive way and in a very unique setting.”

Tickets for Tales from Haunted Liverpool go on sale Tuesday 29 September. Tickets cost from £10, call the Unity Theatre box office on 0151 709 4988.
