The Red Shoes
The Red Shoes

Opening: Red Shoes at Manchester Library Theatre

Date: 3 August 2009

Manchester’s leading young people’s theatre group, [the norfox Young People’s Theatre Company], presents an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Red Shoes, its fourth production at (the Library Theatre) in Manchester, for three performances on 7 and 8 August.

The production, features 18 young people aged between 15 and 18 drawn from all over Manchester and will be directed by Liz Postlethwaite, the Library Theatre’s Community and Education Director.

Our heroine can’t resist her magical red shoes. They make her dance with delight, but what happens when she can’t take them off? This dark and daring night of theatre, performed by some of the best young actors in Manchester is ideal for anyone aged eight upwards.

The norfox Young People’s Theatre Company, supported by norfox, a regional charity supported by North West property companies, is the Library Theatre’s resident theatre company which gives young people aged between 15 and 18 the opportunity to develop their skills as performers within a professional theatre environment.

You can follow the development of the play here.
