Pearson, Beattie & Freshwater lead cast of Noises Off tour

Date: 22 January 2013

Casting has been announced for the UK tour of the Old Vic's revival of Michael Frayn's award-winning backstage comedy Noises Off.

Following its acclaimed run at the Old Vic, where it became the highest grossing show in the history of the Old Vic Theatre Company, and then at the Novello Theatre in the West End, Noises Off will tour theatres across the UK and Ireland from 27 March 2013.

Winner of Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Comedy, Noises Off is a play within a play. Hurtling along at breakneck speed it follows the backstage antics of a touring theatre company as they stumble their way through rehearsals to a shambolic first night and a final disastrous performance.

Directed by Lindsay Posner, the UK tour will star Neil Pearson (Lloyd Dallas), Geoffrey Freshwater (Selsdon Mowbray/Burglar),  Maureen Beattie (Dotty Otley/Mrs Clackett), Sasha Waddell (Belinda Blair/Flavia Brent), David Bark-Jones (Gary Lejeune/Roger Tramplemain), Simon Bubb (Tim Allgood), Danielle Flett (Poppy Norton-Taylor) and Thomasin Rand (Brooke Ashton/Vicki).

Pearson, whose TV credits include Drop the Dead Donkey and Monroe, has previously appeared on stage in Arcadia (Duke of York’s Theatre), Peter Hall’s touring productions of Uncle Vanya, Old Times and Mind Milly for Me, and Kevin Spacey’s production of Cloaca at the Old Vic.

RSC veteran Maureen Beattie recently appeared in Enquirer at the National Theatre of Scotland and is currently starring in No Quarter at the Royal Court. Geoffrey Freshwater, another RSC regular, has recently been seen in Old Money (Hampstead Theatre) and Filumena (Almeida).

Noises Off opens at the Theatre Royal Bath from 27 March to 6 April 2013, before visiting Cambridge, Eastbourne, Newcastle, Nottingham, Aberdeen, Sheffield, Norwich, Edinburgh, Salford, Belfast, Dublin and Leeds.
