Rent Set for May London Opening
Date: 30 December 1997

Tony award-winning Rent, one of the most unlikely Broadway musical smashes of recent years, is to open in London on 12 May at the Shaftesbury Theatre. The London production of the everyday story of gay, transvestite, and drug-dealing low life will feature a number of members of the original US cast, including show-stealing Wilson Jermain Heredia.
The show is loosely based on Puccini's La Boheme, relocated to New York City's seedy Lower East Side.
