More than 200 Entries in Prudential Awards for the Arts
Date: 6 August 1997

The ninth annual Prudential Award for the Arts will be presented at the Tate Gallery on 30 October. This year more than 200 entries were received from arts companies throughout the UK for prize money totalling �300,000. The winner of each of five categories - music, dance, opera, theatre and the visual arts - will receive �50,000, while two runners-up in each will receive �5,000. Short-lists will be announced the first week in September.
