Natalie Casey & Spamalot cast join #wosawards Concert line-up, last chance to vote

Date: 29 January 2013

We're thrilled to announce that we've added two more of your 2013 nominees - Natalie Casey and Jon Robyns - to the line-up of this year's Whatsonstage.com Awards Concert, which takes place at the West End's Palace Theatre on Sunday 17 February 2013.

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Play for her role as Angela in the Menier Chocolate Factory's revival of Mike Leigh classic Abigail's Party, Natalie Casey will demonstrate her versatility by singing from her current role in the UK premiere production of Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5. The Broadway import is currently on tour but is tipped to transfer later this year, so this performance will be a sneak-peek first for West End audiences.

Casey is best known for her long-running TV roles in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and BBC sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, while her other recent stage credits include Legally Blonde and Well in the West End and Oklahoma! in Chichester.

Jon Robyns, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, will be joined by his Spamalot castmates for a very special, Whatsonstage.com Awards specific performance from the Monty Python musical. A previous Whatsonstage.com Award winner, Spamalot, which also stars Stephen Tompkinson as King Arthur and Anna-Jane Casey as the Lady of the Lake, has recently extended its latest West End run at the Playhouse Theatre.

In addition, actor Ed Stoppard will take to the stage at the Concert on behalf of this year’s adopted charity, InterAct. A passionate ambassador for the charity, Stoppard explains: “InterAct’s aim is to include as many children as we can in the activities of drama, music and movement, with the same key outcomes of drama workshops, developing self-expression, gaining confidence and building self-esteem.”

The rest of the line-up to date

As previously announced, other performers at this year’s star-studded Awards Concert include Jesus Christ Superstar's Tim Minchin and Melanie C, Wicked co-stars Louise Dearman and Gina Beck, Soho Cinders’ hilarious double act Beverly Rudd and Suzie Chard, and the casts of shows including Top Hat, Taboo and Loserville, with stars including Sam Buttery, Paul Baker and Gavin Lee.

There will also be performances from Olivier Award winner David Bedella (Jerry Springer The Opera, Torch Song Trilogy), Alice Fearn (Shrek, Into the Woods and Les Miserables on screen) and Hannah Levane (Sister Act, High School Musical).

The Concert will be hosted by Rufus Hound - soon to make his West End debut taking over as Francis Henshall in Richard Bean's Whatsonstage.com Award-winning hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors (read our interview here) - and Great British Bake Off star Mel Giedroyc, who returns having co-hosted the 2010 Awards Concert.

The Awards Concert is directed and devised by Russell Labey, with sound by Ben Harrison, lighting by Mike Robertson, choreography by Lizzi Gee and musical supervision and orchestrations by Tom Deering. It's produced by Stuart Piper and Jason Haigh-Ellery on behalf of Whatsonstage.com, with general management by Peter Huntley and production management by Chris Fisher.

As with last month's Launch Party, the Concert is held in aid of this year's adopted charity, Interact (part of Stagecoach Charitable Trust), which provides disabled and disadvantaged children and young people with real opportunities to develop valuable skills for life through drama, movement and music workshops.

Last chance to vote AND WIN – before Friday!

Voting for the Awards runs until 11.59pm on Thursday (31 January 2013) so be sure to have your say at Whatsonstage.com/Awards - not only can you help your favourites over the finish line, but you'll also be entered into a draw to win prizes including a pair of tickets to the Concert and a Samsung Smart TV, courtesy of Digital Theatre.

Further exciting line-up details will be announced in the coming days!
