Date: 29 January 2013

Mariah Gale, Matthew Marsh, Jamie Parker and Emma Cunniffe will star in the Menier Chocolate Factory's forthcoming revival of David Auburn's Proof, which runs from 14 March to 27 April 2013.

Directed by Polly Findlay, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play revolves around Catherine (Gale) and her father, Robert (Marsh). Catherine has cared for her father through his mental illness for the past five years, but when his ex-student, Hal (Parker), discovers a ground-breaking proof in Robert’s office, the question is posed of who the real author is, and Catherine starts to wonder how much of her father’s madness she has inherited.

Gale's recent credits include Gruesome Playground Injuries (Gate), Three Sisters (Young Vic), Romeo and Juliet (RSC), and Hamlet (RSC), and Cunniffe's include Conquest of the South Pole (Arcola), The Crucible (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre) and Losing Louis (Hampstead and Trafalgar Studios), and

Marsh has appeared in The Last of the Haussmans, Blood and Gifts and The Overwhelming (National Theatre) while Parker recently starred in Henry IV Parts 1 &2 and Henry V at the Globe, and was in the original cast of The History Boys at the National Theatre.

Proof is designed by Helen Goddard with lighting by Paul Anderson, and sound design by Gregory Clarke.

Casting has also been announced for the transfer of Janice Okoh's Bruntwood Prize-winning play Three Birds to the Bush Theatre, which opens on 22 March (previews from 20 March).

Directed by Sarah Frankcom, the full cast for the production is Claire Brown (Ms Jenkins), Michaela Coel (Tiana), Jahvel Hall (Tionne), Lee Oakes (Dr Feelgood) and Susan Wokoma (Tanika).

Siblings Tiana, Tanika and Tionne have found themselves home alone. Tiana's keeping it all together by taking charge of house work and homework. But Tionne's experiments are getting stranger and Tanika's starting to act up. As the outside world begins to press in, the three will do anything to keep their secret safe from the adults who come to call.

Billed as a "startling and darkly comic drama about childhood, family and fantasy", Three Birds runs until 20 April 2013. It's at the Royal Exchange from 27 February to 16 March.
