Mike McShane joins cast of Tailor-Made Man at Arts Theatre

Date: 8 January 2013

American comic actor Mike McShane has been cast alongside Faye Tozer and Dylan Turner in new musical The Tailor-Made Man, which opens at the Arts Theatre on 21 February 2013 (previews from 14 February).

McShane, whose recent theatre credits include La Cage aux Folles on Broadway, will play movie mogul Louis B Mayer in the show, which centres on the true story of William Haines (played by Turner), the silent screen star who was fired by Mayer for being gay.

The Tailor-Made Man was originally written as a play by Claudio Macor, who wrote the book for and will direct the musical premiere. The musical adaptation is by Amy Rosenthal, with music by Duncan Walsh Atkins and Adam Meggido (Showstoppers!) and lyrics by Meggido.

McShane's most recent West End credit was as the voice of Audrey II in the Menier Chocolate Factory production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Duke of York’s Theatre in 2007. On TV, he is probably best known for his regular appearances between 1988-1997 on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and he played Kramer’s nemesis, Franklin Delano Romanowski (FDR) on Seinfeld.

The Tailor-Made Man will choreographed by Nathan M Wright, with design by Sophia Simensky, lighting by Humphrey McDermott, sound by Tom Marshall and musical direction by Duncan Walsh Atkins. It's produced in London by Stephen McGill.
