Cast: Greig & Sessions in Longing, full Vortex, Derngate's RoadDate: 4 January 2013 Whatsonstage.com Award winner Tamsin Greig and comedian John Sessions are set to star in William Boyd's Longing at Hampstead Theatre next month, according to the Daily Mail. The play is helmed by Nina Raine, who recently directed Greig in the Whatsonstage.com Award-nominated Jumpy, and runs in the main space from 7 March to 6 April (previews from 28 February). The cast will also reportedly feature Jonathan Bailey, Natasha Little, Eve Ponsonby and Catrin Stewart. Based on two short stories by Chekhov, novelist William Boyd (An Ice-Cream War, Any Human Heart, Waiting for Sunrise) spins "a tale of nineteenth century Russian life both familiar and unfamiliar". When Kolia is invited to visit his oldest friends on their estate in the country he anticipates a pleasant break from Moscow life. But as the comedy of provincial life plays out around him, he finds himself adrift in a miasma of false expectations, missed opportunities and unspoken passions. Tamsin Greig's other recent stage credits include The Little Dog Laughed in the West End, for which she won a Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Play. Comedian John Sessions, who trained at RADA, is a familiar face on panel shows including QI and Whose Line is it Anyway?. His film credits include Made in Dagenham and The Iron Lady. In other recent casting news: Full casting has been announced for the forthcoming revival of Noel Coward's The Vortex at the Rose Theatre Kingston. Joining Kerry Fox, David Dawson and James Dreyfus are Sophie Rundle (Bunty), Helen Atkinson Wood (Clara), William Chubb (David Lancaster), Rebecca Johnson (Helen Saville), Jack Hawkins (Tom Veryan), John Cummins (Bruce Fairlight) and Helen Fletcher (Preston). Con O'Neill (Blood Brothers, Telstar), Nicola Stephenson (War Horse, Brookside), Michelle Butterly (Benidorm) and Matthew Wait (Casualty) will star in Willy Russell's One for the Road at the Royal & Derngate, Northampton next month. Running from 1-23 February, the production is directed by Laurie Sansom and kicks off the venue's 'Comedy Gold' season. Related Content
