Ghost the Musical embarks on UK tour in 2013

Date: 11 December 2012

The Whatsonstage.com Award-winning Ghost the Musical, which closed in the West End in October, is to tour the UK next year, kicking off at the Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff in April 2013.

The show is based on the Oscar winning film starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore and features the iconic song "Unchained Melody".

The story focuses on Molly and Sam, a couple who are mugged walking home one night. Murdered in the attack, Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next, and unwilling to leave Molly who remains in danger. With the help of a phoney psychic Oda Mae Brown, Sam attempts to communicate with and save Molly.

Sam was originally played in the West End by Richard Fleeshman (who won the 2012 Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Actor in a Musical) and Caissie Levy. The roles were most recently played by Siobhan Dillon and Mark Evans, who took over in January when Fleeshman and Levy left to open the show on Broadway.

No casting has yet been announced for the tour.

Matthew Warchus' production, which has a score by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard and a book by the original screenplay writer Bruce Joel Rubin, was nominated in nine categories at the 2012 Whatsonstage.com Awards, winning three.

Set and costume designs are by Rob Howell, choreography is by Ashley Wallen, musical supervision and arrangements by Christopher Nightingale, illusions by Paul Kieve, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Bobby Aitken.

The UK tour is being produced by David Ian Productions, The Ambassador Theatre Group, Colin Ingram, and Hello Entertainment/David Garfinkle.
