Date: 7 December 2012

Nominations for our 2013 Whatsonstage.com Awards will be announced at a lunchtime ceremony held today (7 December 2012) at the West End's Cafe de Paris. The shortlists will be live on the awards site from 2pm, and voting for the eventual winners will begin immediately.

The shortlists have been drawn up based on nominations submitted by theatregoers over the past month. More than 50,000 nominations were received, marking another new record for the Awards as they enter their 13th year.

Today's event is attended by scores of stars from the past year's theatregoing. Among the guest presenters helping us announce the shortlists will be Alistair McGowan, Mark Gatiss, Tamzin Outhwaite, Stephen Tompkinson and Belinda Lang. There will also be a special Christmas quartet performance from Niamh Perry, Zizi Strallen, Stuart Matthew Price and Iwan Lewis and a finale from the US cast of Tony Award-winning Green Day musical American Idiot.

Among those expected to attend today are: Aaron Sidwell, Adam James, Aden Gillett, Adrian Lester, Adrian Lukis, Adrian Noble, Ben Forster, Blake Ritson, Cian Barry Danielle Hope, Darren Day, Deborah Shaw, Dominic Rowan, Gay Soper, Geronimo Rauch, Gina Beck, Hannah Waddingham, Harry Hadden-Paton, Helen Hobson, Hattie Morahan, Helen Lederer, Jamie Ballard, Jenna Russell, Jolyon Coy, Jude Kelly, Lewis Reeves, Linda Marlowe, Lucy Bailey, Mark Curry, Mark Hadfield, Maria Friedman, Martin Ball, Matt Rawle, Nica Burns, Paul Baker, Pip Carter, Rachel Tucker, Rosemary Ashe, Owain Arthur, Sally Dexter, Sandra Dickinson, Sierra Boggess, Simon Williams, Sophie Thompson, Tanya Moodie, Tracie Bennett and Will Young.

Voting for the winners commences immediately after the Launch Party at Whatsonstage.com/Awards.

Final results are announced during the star-studded Awards Concert, which takes place on Sunday 17 February 2013 at the Palace Theatre, hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Rufus Hound.

The evening includes a two-and-a-half hour Concert performed by numerous nominees and other top West End stars as well as numbers from some of the year's biggest musicals - and of course, your big-name winners collecting their trophies to your cheers.

Both events are held in aid of this year’s adopted charity, Interact (part of Stagecoach Charitable Trust), which provides disabled and disadvantaged children and young people with real opportunities to develop valuable skills for life through drama, movement and music workshops.
