Prejudice & Winter's Tale complete Open Air 2013 season

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has confirmed its complete 2013 season. Pride and Prejudice will follow the previously announced production of To Kill a Mockingbird, whilst The Winter's Tale, re-imagined for children, will be staged prior to The Sound of Music.

Jane Austen’s “ultimate romantic comedy” Pride and Prejudice will run from 25 June to 20 July 2013 (previews from 20 June).

Austen’s story of the five Bennet sisters and their relentless pursuit of suitable husbands is adapted by Bristol Old Vic’s former artistic director Simon Reade, whose version was first seen in 2009.

It’s followed, from 29 June to 20 July, by The Winter’s Tale, in a version tailored specifically for children aged six and over. Using Shakespeare’s original text, this follows the Open Air’s previous productions of Pericles, Macbeth and The Tempest especially created for younger audiences.

Rounding off the season, as previously announced, is Rachel Kavanaugh’s production of The Sound of Music (25 July to 7 September 2013). This will be the first time that a work by the hit musical-writing partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II has been staged at the Open Air Theatre.

Full cast and creative team for all productions will be announced in due course.
