Landor stages Howard Goodall's Winter's Tale, opens 12 Nov

Date: 25 September 2012

The Landor Theatre in Clapham will stage the "professional world premiere" of Howard Goodall's 2005 musical A Winter’s Tale later this year.

The production, which runs from 12 November to 1 December 2012 (previews from 4 November), is directed by Andrew Keates, who helmed a revival of Goodall's The Hired Man at the Landor last year.

Inspired by Shakespeare's The Winter’s Tale, although not a direct adaptation, the show features a book by Nick Stimson. According to press, it “explores two very different lands that one day must conquer their differences through the universal themes of love, understanding and truth.”

First seen in 2005, A Winter’s Tale has received several amateur stagings, including the Youth Music Theatre’s 2009 production.

The production team at the Landor includes George Dyer as musical supervisor (Merrily We Roll Along, Annie, Ragtime), musical staging by Cressida Carré (The Hired Man, Burlesque, Spring Awakening), Martin Thomas as designer (Curtains, Ragtime, Guys & Dolls), lighting designer Howard Hudson (Mack & Mabel, Parade, The Hired Man), Sarah Weltman as sound designer (The Hired Man, The Damnation of Faust, Idemoneo), and costume designer Philippa Batt (Passing By, Soho Cinders).

Full casting will be announced shortly.
