Matilda releases 400k more tickets for Roald Dahl Day

Date: 13 September 2012

The Royal Shakespeare Company's award-winning production of Matilda the Musical is releasing 400,000 new tickets at 11am today (13 September 2012).

The production, which is now booking until 22 December 2013 at the Cambridge Theatre, is releasing the tickets to coincide with the seventh annual Roald Dahl Day – on what would have been the author's birthday.

Adapted from Dahl's 1988 novel, the Whatsonstage.com and Olivier Award-winning musical has a book by the playwright Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by comedian Tim Minchin, direction by Matthew Warchus and choreography by Peter Darling.

The current cast features Lucy-Mae Beacock, Hayley Canham, Chloe Hawthorn and Lara Wollington, who share the title role, alongside Haley Flaherty (Miss Honey), Steve Furst (Mr Wormwood), Annette McLaughlin (Mrs Wormhood) and David Leonard (Miss Trunchbull).

The New York production of Matilda, produced by the RSC and The Dodgers, will begin previews on 4 March 2013 with opening night on 11 April 2013 at Broadway's Shubert Theatre.
