Stoppard's Jumpers out of the wardrobe for 40th anniversary run

Date: 22 August 2012

The 40th anniversary of Tom Stoppard comedy Jumpers will be marked by a month-long run of the play at the Tabard Theatre, opening 6 September 2012 (previews from 4 September).

The farce, first performed at the Old Vic by the National Theatre Company in 1972, several years after Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead launched him to theatrical stardom, sends up the world of academic philosophy, and features an aged professor trying to rehearse a lecture despite the distraction of a nearby murdered corpse.

The play was revived in 1985, in a version starring Felicity Kendal, with whom Stoppard later became romantically involved. It's most recent revival took place at the National Theatre in 2003.

The Tabard cast will feature Emily Shaw (understudy for Miss Honey in Matilda) as Dotty and Toby Eddington as George. Mark White (Ghost The Musical), Michael McEvoy, Malcolm Freeman and Julie Rose Smith also take the stage in the production directed by Madeleine Loftin and designed by Chris Hone. The show runs until 30 September 2012.
