Jamie Lloyd partners with ATG to launch production company

Date: 13 August 2012

Director Jamie Lloyd is following in his Sheffield Theatres and Donmar Warehouse mentor Michael Grandage’s footsteps by launching his own production company.

In partnership with Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), the UK’s largest theatre owner, Jamie Lloyd Productions will focus on “new writing, modern classics and musicals”.

Lloyd is a former associate director at the Donmar Warehouse and associate artist at Headlong. His recent productions include The Duchess of Malfi (Old Vic), She Stoops to Conquer (National), The School for Scandal (Theatre Royal Bath), Inadmissible  Evidence (Donmar Warehouse) and The Faith Machine (Royal Court).

His musical credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Passion and Piaf (all for the Donmar). He is currently in rehearsal directing Douglas Hodge in Cyrano de Bergerac at the Roundabout Theatre in New York.

ATG joint CEO and creative director Howard Panter said: “Jamie Lloyd Productions heralds another exciting development in the expansion of our production activity. Jamie is a visionary director, who actors love working with and we look forward to his commissioning and directing new projects soon.”

Lloyd added: “I am delighted to be working with Howard and everyone at ATG. I'm looking forward to developing an eclectic range of work including new commissions made-to-measure for the West End.”

Jamie Lloyd Productions is the latest major production initiative from ATG following announcements earlier in the year about Jerry Mitchell Productions, Tali Pelman Productions and Theatre Royal Brighton Productions.
