Some Like It Hip Hop returns to Peacock, 25 SepDate: 2 August 2012
Some Like It Hip Hop is returning to the West End’s Peacock Theatre from 25 September 2012 (previews from 20 September) ahead of a UK tour.
The Whatsonstage.com and Olivier Award-nominated ZooNation and Sadler’s Wells production unites dancing with a Shakespeare-influenced narrative.
With a nod to Billy Wilder’s film and Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, it tells a comical tale of love, mistaken identity, cross-dressing and revolution; all played out in ZooNation’s trademark style of hip hop, comedy and physical theatre.
Directed by Sadler’s Wells associate artist and ZooNation founder Kate Prince and featuring music by DJ Walde and Josh Cohen, the show’s original cast returns for a second London run, led by Tommy Franzen (So You Think You Can Dance, Blaze), Lizzie Gough (So You Think You Can Dance, The X Factor) and Teneisha Bonner (StreetDance 3D, Shoes, Into the Hoods).
Kate Prince directed and co-choreographed Whatsonstage.com Award winner Into the Hoods, which first premiered at the Peacock Theatre in 2006, later opening at the Novello Theatre in 2008. She also choreographed So You Think You Can Dance? for the BBC and the movie Streetdance3D.
Some Like It Hip Hop is a ZooNation and Sadler’s Wells production, supported by Arts Council England, Curve Leicester and Wales Millennium Centre.
Some Like It Hip Hop runs at the Peacock Theatre until 13 October 2012, before touring to Salford, Truro, Canterbury, Guildford, Edinburgh, Bradford, Leicester, Nottingham and Wolverhampton.
