Local Dance schools appear In Angelina Ballerina Mousical at Palace & Empire

Date: 24 July 2012

Children’s book and television favourite, Angelina Ballerina is heading for Manchester & Liverpool in her brand new ‘Mousical’, an all-singing, all-dancing musical theatre show set to delight her young fans.

The show, suitable for the ages of three plus, transports audiences to Chipping Cheddar, as Angelina and friends discover that Camembert Academy has won the opportunity to appear in their favourite television programme Dancing With Mice!

It feels like a dream come true - but when the girls and boys have very different ideas for the show and just can't seem to agree on anything, it's up to Angelina as Dance Captain to ensure that the show goes ahead.

Angelina always works hard to reach her goals and learns from her mistakes. As the young audiences share in Angelina’s experiences, they’re inspired to go after their big dreams too!

Boys and girls aged five to eight who have been learning ballet or contemporary dance at three local dance schools will be appearing alongside the cast in the grand finale of the show.

An award-winning children’s book series by author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig, Angelina Ballerina was first launched in 1983 and has since garnered huge international acclaim, with over 20 books published and an animated television series broadcast in the UK and the US.

Angelina Ballerina the Mousical is also delighted to be supporting the National Literacy Trust, a charity that helps children and young people to gain the vital literacy skills they need for success at school and throughout life. Through our partnership we want to raise £10,000 to support their work. This would enable them to inspire thousands of children and families in disadvantaged areas to enjoy reading and improve their literacy skills.

This brand new stage show is written and directed by Miranda Larson, with music by Barrie Bignold, choreography by Matthew Cole and set and costume designs by Isla Shaw. The cast includes: Georgia Carling as Angelina, Katy Stredder as Gracie, Hannah Louise-Wilson as Alice, Miss Mimi, TV presenter, Samantha Hull as Viki, Daniel Jacob as AJ and Nicholas Pack as Marco.

Angelina Ballerina - The Mousical
is at the Palace Theatre from 17 - 19 August and the Liverpool Empire from 21 - 23.
