Whatsonstage.com wins Hitwise Award, ranked No.2 for performing arts

Date: 21 March 2012

Whatsonstage.com has once again been ranked as a Top 10 website winner – and we’re climbing the ranks!

The Experian Hitwise UK Top 10 Awards celebrate the most successful UK websites based on market share of UK visits a website has received throughout the year. Whatsonstage.com has consistently charted at No. 3 or No. 4 for many years.

During 2011, we ranked No. 2 based on visits between January and December 2011 among all UK sites in the Hitwise Entertainment - Performing Arts industry. Whatsonstage.com is the only media website included in the top three. The venue and ticketing site for the Ambassador Theatre Group, the UK’s largest theatre owner and producer, comes in at No. 1 followed by the National Theatre’s flagship website at No. 3.

The Hitwise UK Top 10 Awards Program celebrates the most successful UK websites. As Experian Hitwise reports on the anonymous online usage and search behaviour of more than eight million UK Internet users - the largest online sample of its kind - this unique awards program recognises excellence in online performance through public popularity.

Whatsonstage.com’s owners at Time Out also figure in the Hitwise awards. www.timeout.com is ranked No. 1 for the Entertainment – Nightlife industry category.
