Latitude announces seventh annual festival line-up

The line-up for the seventh edition of Latitude Festival, held at Henham Park Estate, Suffolk, from 12 to 15 July 2012, has been announced.

Theatre highlights in this year's programme, which was announced during an event at the Century Club last night, include performances by the BAC, Lyric Hammersmith, Globe Education at Shakespeare’s Globe, C!rca and HighTide.

Sadler's Wells return to the Waterfront Stage, which will be shared with acclaimed concert pianist Lang Lang who has also been named as exclusive special guest.

Performances in the theatre arena include companies such as Australian circus performers C!rca, the Lyric Hammersmith returning with a series of site specific pieces, Battersea Arts Centre and documentary-theatre company Look Left Look Right, who will premiere their Latitude commission of four new musicals.

Political activist and alternative comedian Mark Thomas will also preview his new play about his father, Bravo Figura at Latitude before transferring it to the Traverse Theatre for the Edinburgh Fringe.

Other high-profile productions include Alice By Heart, a new rock-musical take on Alice in Wonderland from Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, the writers of Spring Awakening. The show is brought to Latitude as part of the National Theatre's Connections, the theatre's annual, national festival of new writing and young theatre making.

Away from the Theatre Arena, Theatre Delicatessen premiere their new production of Henry V in The Outdoor Theatre, which will also play host to Globe Education at Shakespeare’s Globe.

HighTide Festival Theatre will also showcase their major new work on local folklore created especially for Latitude, Eisteddfod, whilst the award-winning Pentabus Theatre will present specially created work The Diggers Band.

Elsewhere on the site comedy headliners include Whatsonstage.com Award-winning comedian and creator of Matilda the Muscical Tim Minchin whilst the music stages are headlined by Bon Iver, Elbow and Paul Weller.
