Rylance returns to Apollo with Globe Richard III & Twelfth Night
Date: 27 February 2012

As previously tipped by Whatsonstage.com, Shakespeare’s Globe will transfer its forthcoming productions of Richard III and Twelfth Night to the West End following their runs on the South Bank.

Starring Mark Rylance (as Richard III and Olivia) and Stephen Fry (Malvolio), the Tim Carroll-directed revivals will run at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue - where Rylance recently starred in the multi award-winning Jerusalem - from 2 November 2012 to 3 February 2013.

The productions will run in repertoire at the Globe from 14 July to 14 October 2012, marking Rylance’s first appearance at the venue since stepping down as artistic director in 2005.

The ensemble also features former History Boy Samuel Barnett and Rylance’s Jerusalem co-star Johnny Flynn, alongside Liam Brennan, Colin Hurley, Peter Hamilton Dyer. Further casting will be announced soon.

Designs are by Jenny Tiramani and music is by Claire van Kampen, who along with Carroll are the creative team behind the Globe’s original 2002 version of Twelfth Night. The new productions will be designed using original Shakespearian practices.

The West End transfer is being produced by Sonia Friedman Productions in association with Shakespeare Road, 1001 Nights and Tulchin/ Bartner Productions.

£94! .....and I thought we were being ripped off over the prices for Driving Miss Daisy - but this is a whole different league. Shocking and very wrong...for £94 I would expect Shakespeare to be IN it! - jonathan
