Whatsonstage.com introduces live video streaming for 2012 Awards
Date: 10 February 2012

If you haven’t yet managed to get a ticket to the 2012 Whatsonstage.com Awards Concert - and why not? have you seen our line-up of performers and nominees?! – don’t despair.

In another first for Whatsonstage.com, we’ll be streaming the results live from the star-studded ceremony, held at the Prince of Wales on Sunday 19 February in association with Time Out in aid of this year’s adopted charity Stage One.

With our Official Video Partner, Kinura, we’ll be webcasting a live mix of results announcements, acceptance speeches, audience reactions and backstage interviews with your winners.

Video coverage will commence from 7pm on Sunday 19 February and will be carried exclusively on the Whatsonstage.com and www.timeout.com/london websites.

On Whatsonstage.com, the video player will sit on the Awards microsite homepage at www.whatsonstage.com/awards, with a mainsite homepage overlay to redirect theatregoers to the live coverage.

The webcast will bolster Whatsonstage.com’s usual extensive coverage of related news, tweets and photos on the day and the night of the awards. Last year, we were a top three trending topic on Twitter and we aim to right up there again this year on the #wosawards hashtag.

Commenting on the introduction of Awards streaming, Whatsonstage.com managing and editorial director Terri Paddock said: “Demand for the Whatsonstage.com Awards has grown phenomenally year on year. We wish we could squeeze everyone who should be there into the Prince of Wales with us on the night to celebrate. Sadly, there are only 1200 seats. But, working with Kinura, we’re really excited that we’ll be able to bring theatregoers a flavour of the excitement of the live event. We hope that a good portion of the 70,000-odd of you who took part in the judging process will tune in for the results on the 19th!”

Sarah Platt, UK director at Kinura, added: "We're really excited to be working with Whatsonstage.com this year to stream live coverage of the Awards from London's West End. The live webcast is a great chance for those who can't make it to watch from the comfort of their own homes and be part of the action. And if you're out and about, you can also get the live stream on your phone or iPad - so don't forget to tune in!"

(Please note: We are unable to show the full performances on the night, but will be publishing our usual highlights reel of interviews and outtakes the next day in addition to the live results.)

Awards Concert tickets are priced £35 to £55 and can be purchased, while supplies last, via the Prince of Wales box office on 0844 482 5133. For online booking of Concert tickets or a five-star luxury hotel Awards package (priced £275 for two), care of Official Hotel Partner, Radisson Edwardian, check on the Awards website www.whatsonstage.com/awards.
