Susie Amy Stars in UK Tour of Christie's Murder on the Nile

Date: 30 December 2011

The Agatha Christie Theatre Company are touring a new production of the author’s classic thriller Murder on the Nile in the new year.

The cast features TV stars Susie Amy (Footballers’ Wives), Kate O'Mara (Dynasty, Bad Girls), Denis Lill (The Royal, Doctor Who), Chloe Newsome (Coronation Street), Ben Nealon (Soldier Soldier) and 60’s pop singer Mark Wynter.

On board a steamer, cruising under the scorching Egyptian sun, honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his wealthy socialite wife Kay find themselves being pursued by an old flame of the newly wedded groom. Tragedy strikes and a body is discovered, all fingers point to Simon’s ex fiancée.

However, everything is not what it seems and holidaying cleric Canon Pennefather is drawn into a web of intrigue and deceit as he finds himself on the trail of a ruthless murderer.

Agatha Christie’s stage adaptation of the novel Death on the Nile was first performed in 1944 under the title Hidden Horizon; it later opened in the West End and on Broadway as Murder on the Nile in 1946.

Directed by Joe Harmston, the tour kicks off at the Theatre Royal, Windsor from 10-21 January 2012 before visiting venues including Bath Theatre Royal, Richmond Theatre, Derby Theatre, Churchill Theatre Bromley, Malvern Festival Theatre, New Theatre Wimbledon, Theatre Royal Brighton, Glasgow Theatre Royal and finishing at the Newcastle Journal Tyne from 23-28 July.
