Goodbye Barcelona, a new musical about a British mother and son caught up in the Spanish Civil War, opens at the Arcola Theatre, where it runs to 23 December.

Lenny Henry stars as Antipholus of Syracuse in Shakespeare’s comic masterpiece at the NT Olivier, directed by Royal Court artistic director Dominic Cooke

A Round-Heeled Woman, based on Jane Juska's bestselling book about her sexual adventures as a 60-something, transfers to the Aldwych Theatre for a limited run to 14 January.

The Westbridge

(PREVIEWS FROM 25 NOVEMBER)

Rachel De-lahay’s new play, examining racial and cultural distinctions in south London, opens at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs following its premiere in Peckham as part of the Theatre Local scheme. Until 23 December.

Santa Claus and the Christmas Adventure brings some festive cheer to the Ambassadors Theatre, running in the daytime slot until the end of December.

The Hackney Empire presents the latest edition of its award-winning pantomime, written and directed as ever by Susie McKenna. Until 8 January 2012.

2012 Whatsonstage.com Awards Launch

Following a month of public nominations, the shortlists are announced for the year's Whatsonstage.com Awards during a star-studded party at the West End's Cafe de Paris. Voting opens online as soon as the nominees are announced.

The Lyric Hammersmith's annual panto, featuring a return for Shaun Prendergast as the dame, is directed by Steve Marmion and continues until 31 December.

Howl's Moving Castle
(PREVIEWS FROM 28 NOVEMBER)

Artists Davy and Kristin McGuire bring Diana Wynne Jones’ award-winning novel to the Southwark Playhouse Vault for a run to 7 January 2012
