Cool Hand Luke Posts Closing Notices at Aldwych, 19 Nov

Date: 14 October 2011

Cool Hand Luke has posted closing notices at the West End's Aldwych Theatre for 19 November 2011.

The play, adapted from Donn Pearce's 1965 novel, had initially been booking to 7 January 2012. It stars Marc Warren, best known as Danny Blue in BBC TV's Hustle, in the title role, and is directed for Novel Theatre by Andrew Loudon (Carrie's War).

Famously adapted into a 1967 film starring Paul Newman, Cool Hand Luke centres on Luke Jackson, a decorated World War II veteran who refuses to conform to life in a Florida prison camp and frequently tries to escape. In one particularly iconic scene, Jackson enters a spur of the moment wager that he can eat 50 eggs in an hour.

Warren is joined in the cast by Coronation Street’s Lee Boardman and American screen actress Lisa Eichhorn as well as Rob Falconer, Joshua McCord, Nathan Osgood), Tom Silburn and David Sturzaker.

Ticket holders for productions after 19 November are advised to contact their point of sale.
