Terror Fest, Audience & Key Headline Soho Autumn Season

Steve Marmion has announced his second season as artistic director of Soho Theatre, with highlights including the premiere of Georgia Fitch’s Fit and Proper People, the annual Terror Festival, and transfers of Edinburgh Fringe productions Audience, The Table and Tim Key’s Masterslut.

Launching the season today, Marmion said: “Football, true love, politics, our picks from Edinburgh, West End comedy transfers, a world tour and a Christmas treat for everyone - we’ve got it all at Soho Theatre this autumn.”

The season will feature 18 new plays, including, as previously reported, Fitch’s Fit and Proper People, which is set in the world of Championship football and runs from 12 October to 5 November 2011 (previews from 7 October), directed by Marmion in association with the RSC.

It’s followed, from 19 October to 5 November, by the “UK’s only annual festival of horror theatre”, Terror, transferring to Soho after seven years at Southwark Playhouse. Contributors this year include Lucy Kirkwood, Julian Barrat, Jack Thorne, Tom Holloway, Carl Grose, Des O’Connor, Jonny Woo, Laura Corcoan, Sarah-Louise Young and Dusty Limits.

The Soho has long been a London home for Edinburgh Fringe transfers, and this year is no exception, with Ontroerend Goed’s Audience (6 December 2011-7 January 2012) and Blind Summit’s The Table 10-21 January) among the Fringe hits travelling south of the border.

On the comedy side, 2009 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Tim Key brings his latest show Masterslut to the main stage from 8 December to 7 January. Other comics appearing include Adam Hills, Doctor Brown, Paul Foot, Josie Long, Richard Herring, Sean Hughes and Andy Zaltzman.

Elsewhere in the theatre programme, Ex, a new play by Rob Young with songs in collaboration with Two’s Company, premieres from 10 November-3 December; A Walk on Part: The Fall of New Labour, adapted from the diaries of Chris Mullin and directed by Live Theatre’s Max Roberts, runs from 15 November to 10 December; Bagpuss returns for another festive stint from 22 December-8 January; and Colin Teevan’s The Bee, first performed at Soho Theatre in 2006, returns from 24 January-11 February.

The Upstairs studio will host a range of new work including Edinburgh Fringe hits Hannah Ringham’s: Free Show (Bring Money), The Oh Fuck Moment and Bunny.
