Corrie's Kate Anthony in Library Home

Kate Anthony who stars in Coronation Street as Pam Hobsworth (Aunt of the late Molly Dobbs) is set to tread the boards in the Library Theatre's new Season opener - All The Way Home at the Lowry next month. Kate has also starred in Heartbeat and Eastenders and she joins Susan Cookson (Early Doors), and two other former Corrie stars Naomi Radcliffe (who also recently performed at the Lowry in Fireflies) and Sean Gallagher who was last seen in the North West in Canary at the Liverpool Playhouse.

They are joined by Judith Barker, Paul Simpson and Julie Riley in this latest play by Salford born playwright and actor Ayub Khan-Din. A major player on the international arts stage, Ayub’s feature films East is East and most recently West is West, have been screened all over the world. Ayub Khan-Din rose to fame as an actor in the 1980s, appearing in the iconic My Beautiful Laundrette and Sammy and Rosie Get Laid. He is currently under commission by the National Theatre and the Lincoln Center for the perfoming arts in New York.

All the Way Home will be directed by Mark Babych, Artistic director at Bolton Octagon for ten years and whose recent credits include Wuthering Heights at Aberystwyth Arts Centre and most recently the critically acclaimed production of The Railway Children at Waterloo Station.

Packed full of spiky Salford banter, All the Way Home is a gritty, modern day tale about a disparate group of warring siblings who gather at their former family home, under the shadow of impending loss. As various relatives return to the family home, tensions and past conflicts rise to the surface in the hot house atmosphere of the small terraced house.

With All the Way Home, Ayub takes us back to his native Salford - and what better place to stage his latest work in his hometown? The company is also looking forward to working with Manchester Evening News Award-winning director Mark Babych for the first time, on what promises to be an exciting and original production.”

All The Way Home runs at the Lowry from 29 September - 15 October.
