WEST YORKSHIRE PLAYHOUSE AUTUMN / WINTER 2011 SEASON

2011 has been a big year for change within theatre and organisations across the UK have undergone some far reaching changes. The West Yorkshire Playhouse remains at the forefront of creative and innovative regional theatre with their Autumn/Winter 2011 programme.
<p>  <b>The Go-Between</b> running from 9th Sept – 1st Oct is a co-production by West Yorkshire Playhouse, Derby LIVE!, Royal & Derngate Northampton. Based on the book by David Wood, this is a story of innocent, hidden memories and self realisation. <p>  <b>King Lear</b> 23nd Sept – 22nd Oct. Award-winning stage and screen actor Tim Pigott-Smith takes command of the Quarry Stage as the tormented KING LEAR in Ian Brown’s production of this Shakespearian classic. <p>  <b>Furnace</b>, running from 12th October – 15th October, builds on the recent success of the Transform season. Associate   will oversee FURNACE, the Playhouse’s new vehicle for developing ambitious projects and nurturing the work of bold theatre makers across West Yorkshire and beyond. 
<p>        <b>Annie</b> 21 Nov –21 Jan, the family favourite musical comes to West Yorkshire Playhouse for the festival season. Directed by Nikolai Foster this is a WYP production of the heart warming tale of the orphaned girl, Annie, finding love and a home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks.  <p>    <b>Jack and the Beanstalk</b>  9 Dec –21 Jan. Award-winning playwright Mike Kenny returns to the Playhouse with the fifth of his Big Stories for Little People. Rescuing classic fairytale titles from the clutches of ‘pantomime prison’, Mike Kenny, Gail McIntryre and add more than a little magic to Christmas with this adaptation for the classic tale.  <p>  <b>TOURING PRODUCTIONS<b>   West Yorkshire Playhouse plays host to a variety of theatre from companies who continue to present challenging and inspiring work. Below is a selection of these tours.
<p>  <b>Shared Experience</b> return to the Playhouse to present Polly Teale and Linda Brogan’s <i>Speechless</i>, this award-winning production tells the extraordinary story of two girls’ struggle to be heard.  <p>  <b>One Money Don’t Stop No Show</b> from Eclipse Theatre is an outrageously funny play which explores how hard we try to hide who we really are.  <p>  <b>Britain’s Got Bhangra</b> ,Rifco Arts return with their award-winning musical, following Twinkle as he moves his way to the top of the music industry, this show will have audiences dancing in the aisles.
<p>   Travelling Light and Sixth Sense Theatre companies present <b>Bob The Man on the Moon</b> for all those smaller Playhouse audience members who fancy a trip into space.  <p>  The Playhouse presents some of the best in dance and physical theatre as Northern Ballet kicks off the season with its beautiful contemporary interpretation of <b>Hamlet</b>.  <p>  <b>Lovesong</b>, by award-winning writer Abi Morgan tells the story of one couple whose past and present selves collide in this haunting and beautiful love story.
<p>
  <b>The Wild Bride</b>, adapted and directed by Emma Rice, tells the haunting story of what happens when your father accidentally sells you to the Devil.
