Following their fourth successive Edinburgh Fringe, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical will transfer to the West End for a second stint at the Ambassadors Theatre. It will play at the Ambassadors at 8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 20 September to 12 October 2011.

The show, which creates a brand new musical at every performance, improvised by the cast from audience suggestions, has played every Edinburgh Fringe since 2008, toured the UK regularly and had several London residencies at the King’s Head and Charing Cross Theatres.

Showstopper! opened its first limited West End season at the Ambassadors this past February and returns to once again run concurrently with the theatre’s long-term resident, dance extravaganza Stomp, which celebrates its 20th birthday this autumn.

The format of the show was created by Sticking Place artistic director Adam Meggido and improviser Dylan Emery, both of whom worked closely with late theatre maverick Ken Campbell. Previous collaborations include Shall We Shog for Shakespeare's Globe in 2005, Decor Without Production for the Royal Court and In Pursuit of Cardenio which ran at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2006. Meggido also produces the annual 50-hour Improvathon with Sticking Place.

The cast for the shows at the Ambassadors Theatre are Chris Ash, Duncan Walsh Atkins, Ruth Bratt, Julie Clare, Dylan Emery, Pippa Evans, James Lovelock, Sean McCann, Adam Meggido, Philip Pellew, Nigel Pilkington, Oliver Senton, Lucy Trodd and Sarah Louise Young. Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is produced by Adam Meggido, Dylan Emery and Keith Strachan and general managed by James Seabright.

Prior to the West End, Showstopper! plays at the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe, running 5 to 28 August at the Gilded Balloon Teviot.
