Daniel Boys Leads Lost Boys in Peter Pan Musical

Date: 4 May 2011

Daniel Boys will take the title role in a new musical version of Peter Pan which, after a tryout this summer in Dublin, will have a Christmas season at the Mayflower, Southampton. He will be joined in the cast by Les Dennis and Ben Richards, most recently seen on stage in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, for which he was Whatsonstage.com Award nominated this year.

This version of JM Barrie's classic 1904 play about the boy who refused to grow up will run at Southampton from 9 December 2011 to 14 January 2012. The musical has music by Robert Scott, lyrics and book by Roger Moss. The brand new score includes the song "Never Stop Telling the Story".

Since competing with Lee Mead on TV's Any Dream Will Do in 2007, Daniel Boys' many musical credits have included I Love You Because, Ordinary Days, Wolfboy and Avenue Q, for which he won the Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Takeover in a Role in 2009.

Well known as a television host and entertainer, fronting shows such as Family Fortunes, Les Dennis' theatre credits include West End productions of Chicago and Me and My Girl and UK tours of High School Musical and Hairspray. His television credits include roles in Ricky Gervais' Extras, Merseybeat and Casualty.

Ben Richards has appeared in television's Footballers’ Wives, The Bill and Holby City. His extensive theatre credits include West End productions of Guys and Dolls, Grease, Full Monty and Saturday Night Fever as well as Priscilla.

Peter Pan is directed by David Morgan, designed by Alan Miller Bunford and choreographed by Helen Rymer. It has lighting by Alistair Grant, sound by Clem Rawling, new flying technology by Ben Haynes of Freedom Flying, projections Duncan McLean and creatures by Mike Coltman. It’s produced by Michael Rose and Chris Moreno, whose previous collaborations include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and White Christmas The Musical.

I was very disapointed with this so called pantomine. The special effects are fantastic, however at times it is boring. My grandaughter fell asleep. There were plenty of opportunities to bring a bit of traditional pantomine to the show, but they were missed. No atmosphere im afraid. - Rose
