Opening: Kingdom, Irish Blood, Eyolf, Globe Well

Amongst the major London openings, in the West End and further afield, this week are:

OPENING TONIGHT, Tuesday 3 May 2011, David Auburn's Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning play Proof is revived at Greenwich Playhouse. Exploring the complex relationship between father and daughter set to a backdrop of a mathematical mystery, it continues until 29 May, produced by Sell a Door Theatre Company.


OPENING WEDNESDAY, 4 May 2011 (previews from 29 April),  marking Tennessee Williams’ 100th birthday, The Print Room in Notting Hill presents the playwright’s rarely performed Kingdom of Earth, which opened on Broadway in 1968 and was last staged in London in 1984 at the Hampstead Theatre Club. Directed by Lucy Bailey, it runs until 28 May.

ALSO ON WEDNESDAY, Caitriona McLaughlin directs Darren Murphy’s Irish Blood, English Heart at Trafalgar Studios 2. Originally produced at the Union Theatre, the play is a tender study into how memories, real and imagined, can shape our lives. Until 21 May.


OPENING THURSDAY, 5 May 2011 (previews from 27 April), All's Well That Ends Well is staged for the first time at Shakespeare’s Globe, where it stars Janie Dee, Ellie Piercy, Sam Crane and James Garnon, and runs in rep until 21 August. John Dove directs.

ALSO ON THURSDAY, (previews from 3 May), Imogen Stubbs, Jonathan Cullen and Doreen Mantle lead the cast of Jermyn Street Theatre’s revival of Ibsen’s 1894 classic Little Eyolf, which runs until 28 May 2011, directed by Anthony Biggs.
