Live Tweeting: ACE Announce Funding Decisions

Date: 30 March 2011

Arts Council England (ACE) today (30 March 2011) announce the outcome of a major shift in the funding of arts organisations in England.

The Arts Council's chair Liz Forgan and chief executive Alan Davey lead the briefing, which is due to start at 10am. Notification of whether applications have been successful are expected to arrive at organisations between 7.30am and 9.30am.

Whatsonstage.com will be tweeting live from the 10am press conference being held at Arts Council England head office and bringing you analysis and reaction throughout the day. Follow us on Twitter at @Whatsonstage.com and on the #artsfunding and #npo hashtags. Comments and reaction can be left in the section below or forwarded to editorial@whatsonstage.com

More than 1,330 arts organisations applied for the new type of funding, becoming part of ACE's National Portfolio programme, a scheme which replaces the previous Regularly Funded Organisations structure which saw regular grants awarded to 850 organisations across the country.

No National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) will see more than a 14.9% reduction in their subsidy and there is a possibly of some receiving increases. Applicants who have never received regular funding could also be added to the scheme. However, ACE have warned that the size of the portfolio will be reduced by roughly 100, meaning that almost half of the applicants for NPO funding will be unsuccessful.
